Developed the initial 2015 City of Buckhannon Long Range Comprehensive Plan 

Coordinated USDA grant application for Jawbone Park 

Acquired the Latham House for historical restoration and as a potential future home of the Buckhannon Chamber & CVB offices.

  • Secured a Brownfields Grant of $5K to assist with evaluation of the property
  • Property obtained via mortgage guarantees of individual persons
  • Coordinated work at the house supported by various fund raisers and gifts of individuals and business owners. 
  • Applied for a $250K transportation grant to help with the restoration expense 

Designed new street signage for Buckhannon and helped pay for 18 new signs along College Avenue as a prototype

Worked with the City to identify key parking lot improvements and secured an approval from the State DOH to paint light standards black on Main Street

Worked with the City and the College to install two town directories to help guide visitors to the community

Placed signage regarding Buckhannon supporting authors next to the city library 

Held a Café Buckhannon for non-profits to pitch their ideas about improvements and awarded $750 to aid their causes

Placed LED lighting on Main Street that was used year round to highlight and promote events

Helped to place Christmas lights and decorations on Main Street along with a Christmas tree and lighting ceremony

Coordinated the acquisition of new street banners for the WV Strawberry Festival 

Hosts weekly meetings open to the public for various input and sharing of information and ideas to enhance the community

Started Festival Fridays (2012) in an effort to create a gathering place of local citizens and guests

  • Involves live music, crafters, farm produce, and food to eat
  • Continues to grow annually to be a most successful weekly event

Landscaped the Main Street exit ramp off of Corridor H

Held 2 public sessions to design a town square at the corner of Main & Spring Streets and then submitted a grant application to allow a Town Square park to be created

Received the Governor’s Award for Community Service by A Volunteer Group 

Completed the 15 Month, Hubcap Community Assistance Program and received $13,000 in technical assistance

Designed, built and installed raised garden beds at the Buckhannon Senior High Rise Apartments

Constructed and placed way-finding signage on a trash receptacle at the corner of Main and Spring Streets to direct pedestrians down side streets

Worked with Wesleyan College to assist with way-finding signage placed around campus

Assisted and supported two sessions of B-U Citizens Leadership Institute of Gov. Affairs 

Assisted and supported two sessions of Upshur County Citizen's Firefighters Academy 

Assisted and supported 15 week Forensic Mondays program for young adults and local community youth

Assisted and Supported Buckhannon-Upshur Youth Citizens Leadership Institute of Governmental Affairs for local high school students

Acquired two dozen large caliper trees for Jawbone Park paid by community members in honor/memory of others

Benches were constructed and placed in Jawbone Park and along Main Street  – sponsored by various community members

Worked with a local vendor to create the Walk of Valor project in honor of veterans with 400+ banners on display at Jawbone Park

Sponsored two ongoing Community Garden projects with the Parrish House and on Elizabeth Street – 50 raised beds available for use by residents

Helped reinvigorate  an existing Arts Gallery in Buckhannon - re-named “Artistry on Main” to assist local artists to display and market their crafts

Sponsored a plot for the WVDOH Wildflower program along Corridor H

Supported “Try This Conference” held at WVWC in June 2014-2016

Recycled old highway signs with art pictures and placed around town

Started a “Little Free Library” project in the community to enhance literacy and encourage reading at many locations including:  Main Street, Elementary Schools, local parks – a total 28 LFLs by May of 2016

Encourage construction and placement of decorative bicycle racks on Main Street to encourage 

Held various fund raising events to support community projects Including: pancake breakfasts, gun raffle, side by side raffle, calendar sales, helped local firm with their annual picnic, silent auction/lunch on the lawn with BCT summer production and more

Assisted with the annual Arts Festival sponsored by Artistry On Main

Assisted with the funding and logistics for construction of the Hampton Boat Ramp project in 2015

Revamped an used pontoon boat to provide music concerts on the Buckhannon River on Sunday evenings
